Creep forming the materialat elevated temperatures can achieve thesingle or double curvature of the fuselagepart required for the aircraft body. Using thismethod, there is no distortion or spring backof the material, thus enabling a high precisionand cost-effective production process. Ascompared to stretch forming, no clampingallowance is required, which improves thebuy-to-fl y ratio. Even for traditionally riveteddesigns AlMgSc sheets can be roll-formedwith subsequent attachment of any kind ofstringer material.
